SUMMARY:'The Autobiographical Body' DMP Workshop
DESCRIPTION:By Andrea Nundy-Mala M.A\, PG Dip\, RDMP UK\, ČAP \nWe move through life\, we collect experience\, we create our life story. Many of us recall our past through memories\, but often forget how the body remembers these moments. The human body holds the history of our lives\, from an ancestry to more present day relationships with family\, friends and colleagues. We are constantly evolving. \nThis workshop aims to look through the perspective of Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP)\, at our autobiographical body story. The autobiographical body is seen here as layered\, as a body of fluid expression between dreams and everyday reality and between verbal and non-verbal expression\, between past identifications and future expectations. In this workshop we will explore the themes of autobiography using the techniques of DMP and encourage you to tell your story within the body\, through movement and creativity. \nThe workshop is self-experiential; I offer a space for reflections and support your experience\, although it is not a therapy or supervision space. \nDate: 8th -9th December 2018. Transforming this disordered detour into connectedness to self and life\, is integral to movement toward recovery. Attendees will learn to facilitate engagement with the client’s authentic self by working with them expressively\, empowering them to understand their resistance and translating the ensuing experiences into metaphorical insights. Principles of rhythmic synchrony\, kinesthetic awareness and kinesthetic empathy\, implemented through clinicians’ own clinical intuition and ability to attune\, will allow for the transformation of ordinary experiences into extraordinary therapeutic skills. Teaching methods will focus on folding these new concepts into clinicians’ existing skill set to maximize positive change. \nThis workshop is for anyone interested in exploring themselves through movement.
