Dance Movement
Psychotherapy

‘Dance Movement Psychotherapy is the psychotherapeutic use of movement and dance through which a person can engage creatively in the process to further their emotional, cognitive, physical or social integration’ ADMP UK

Dance Movement Psychotherapy, or DMP for short, is a unique form of psychotherapy which uses movement and dance as a means of communication. It is a recognised treatment modality for people who are emotionally distressed, who experience physical or mental illness, and for those with physical and / or cognitive impairment, or those seeking self-development. Often sessions start with speaking whilst paying attention to how the body is feeling, and then movement, when the time feels right.
